shafi'i fiqh online class

Postby jessica.r » Sun Jun 13, 2010 4:09 pm

Bismillah.

Some of you were looking for a class on shafi'i fiqh. One is going to start soon in sha' Allah.
I'll post new information when I receive it.

New beginner's class on Shafi'i fiqh

Text: Safina An-Najah (The Ship of Success)
Teacher: Ustadh Jamal
Time: TBA but twice weekly, every Tuesday and Thursday
Medium: Online meeting software, classes will be recorded so if one cannot attend the live sessions he can still listen to them.

Short intro of the teacher:

Ustadh Jamal studied 3 years in Damascus and then 5 years in Tarim, Yemen. His teachers are Habib Umar bin Hafith, Habib Ali Al-Jeffrey, Habib Ali Abu Bakr, Habib Abur-Rahman bin Hafith, Shiekh Umar Hussain Al-Khatib, Habib Qathim As-Saqqaf and Habib Tahir As-Saqaff. He is currently studying with Sheikh Muhammad An-Ninowy and Shiekh Khalil Abdur Rashid. He has permission to teach the books within the tarteeb of texts that are studied at Dar Al-Mustafa.

The class is open to both brothers and sisters. It'll be held over the internet via online meeting software (something like WizIq or Dimdim). The class is free of charge. The text will be provided by the teacher.

Marhaban.

The ustadh didn't say yet. I think he might be pondering a different online meeting software. The previous classes were held on WizIq and he may be considering something else. As soon as I know, I'll post the info in sha' Allah.

Marhaban.

The teacher sent an e-mail and says that the classes will be every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 PM (I'm not sure of the time zone, will have to get that clarified in sha' Allah). The first class is tomorrow. They'll use WiZiQ for the first class and Dimdim for the rest of them. You may want to sign up for a WiZiQ account if you don't have one.

He requested me to send him the e-mail addresses of those wishing to attend. If you'd like come, please send me your e-mail so it can be forwarded on to him. Ustadh Jamal also apologizes for the late notice. If you can't make this first class, please don't hesitate to join the classes on Tuesday.

Kind regards,
-Jessica

Just an update,

This class might be full, but keep sending me your e-mails. Two more shafi'i fiqh classes should be starting soon in sha' Allah.

I'll post the details when I get them. I'll also try to get the information on Ustadh Jamal that you guys asked about earlier.

Thanks,
-Jessica

Marhaban.

The ustadha says that he is Jamal Ud-Deen Hysaw, from Chicago, presently living in Atlanta. He is not from Kenya.

-Jessica

P.S. We should know later this week if he'll be able to accept more students into the class.

We've got you down Maisarah. I'll send your e-mail address however I'm still waiting for confirmation if the class is still full or not.

Oh and another shafi'i fiqh class is due to start after Ramadan in sha' Allah, however it may just be for sisters.
