My goal is to become Imam Bi idni Allah - but how?

Postby Mohammed47 » Sat May 09, 2009 7:57 pm

Assalamu Alaikoum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatoehoe,

How are you? Alhamdulillah.

I read a lot of good information here on the forum. Alhamdulillah.

Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Mohammed, 23 years old and Alhamdulillah i'm a converted Dutch Muslim.
I live in Morocco since one year now and i am looking for a next step in my life Insa'Allah Bi idni Allah.

My goal is to become Imam Bi idni Allah or maybe after Sheikh.

I know there are schools in Syria, Yemen, Medina, Egypt, Jordan, etc., but i do not know which one is good. Or do you maybe advise me to go to the UK or South Africa? Because i also have to learn Arabic there. So it is important that they teach Arabic. I prefer schools in Syria and Jordan, but advice about all the cities is welcome offcourse.
I read about Dar al Mustafa, Abu Nour in Syria, Jordan, Darul Uloom Birmingham, schools in South Africa are also very good they say.
And now i also heard something about they pay everything for you when you are a converted Muslim. Is this true? Also the place to stay and food? And which schools do this?
What are the conditions of being accepted? Do the schools look at your education that you have followed or not? And if you want to become an Imam, how long does it take and what does it take to study for that? And what is the best place for that?

All the information is welcome.

JazzakAllahu Khayran.
May Al Qayyum Bless you all with the Best and Protect you. Ameen

Assalamu Alaikoum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatoehoe,

Mohammed

south african here, but in tarim. i have studied a course in imamat as we call it in South Africa but that is just to lead a congregation or a comunity. it isnt recomended for you to desire to be an imaam. the people should elect you & then you should accept if you happy with it. but its always good to have the knowledge. remember that as an imam you are the center of the comunity & it is a bigger responsibility then most imams out there actualy portray.

my advice to you is not to desire any position of leadership-& if you read up on the khulafa then you would see that not even they had ambition for leadership.
but still always go for the knowledge.

select your school of choice carefuly. why dont you just study in Morocco. if you choos South Africa try Darul ulum arabia islamiyah in Cape Town, i find that one the best pearsonaly. im in \yemen at the moment for arabic.

Assalamu Alaikoum,

JazzakAllahu Khayran for your reply. Well i have a question about Yemen. You wrote that you are in Tarim at the moment and i know there is Dar al Mustafa and Badr Institute. As you also wrote that you are there for Arabic now, then i guess you are learning it in Badr Institute?
Because at the website of Dar al Mustafa i read that you have to speak Arabic and read it 'fluently'. Could you inform me more about what you are doing now in Yemen?
And how much it cost and the place to stay etc.

JazzakAllahu Khayran.

ps is it possible to start in Capetown if you do not speak Arabic?
And how much is the cost there to study and live, or do they give you accomodation?

yes i am here for the arabic program. we a groupe of six that would be starting on saturday insha Allah & then we will stop for the dowra but only start after Ramadhan. the new program should officialy start then. Dar mustafa has an Arabic program & badr is not going to be run next acidemic year.

its easy in Tarim everything is cheap. but we you want to live like a westerner you would find it very expensive. you could find a decent place to stay for about $50 but you will have to look. you food expense could come out just about $100 a month. well thats for me & my family, & we decided to go towards simplicity.

in cape town they have many places to learn arabic. the islamic peace university & Ml Taha Kerans madrasah are amongs the most famous. peronaly Ml Taha is the best. they have a 2 year into program for an alim course. search on google for: DUAI & add Ml Taha to that -you should find it.
