Studying Quran in Fez/Morocco

Postby Nabeel » Sun May 17, 2009 5:32 pm

As-salmualykum wa Rahmatullah,

I pray everyone who reads this is in the best states of health and Iman. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give information about institutes or teachers in Fez or Morocco who would be able to assist me in the study of Quran. I particularly want to improve my Tajweed and attempt to memorize the Quran. If anyone has recomendations of other institutes outside morocco where i may be able to study this, i would greatly appreciate it! On a side note, my spoken arabic falls under the category of basic.

May Allah reward you for your assistance and bring you success in all your affairs Inshallah.

With love,

Nabeel.

Assalamu alaikoum Wr Wb,

My name is Mohammed and i live in Fez Alhamdulillah.
As far as i know there is here Dar al Quraan in Fez. Maybe you know it. As it comes to Tajweed, i would recommend you Dar al Hamd in Jordan.
In Morocco i really do not know about this. But there is Dar al Hamd who has an excellent way of teaching you Tajweed Alhamdulillah.
You can ask information at info@al-hamd.org to Sheikh Salah al-Kurdi Insha Allah. The website is www.al-hamd.org

I just asked a collegue about Dar al Quran. He said it is near the French institute in Fez and they learn you Tajweed, Hifzul Quran and Hadith.

If you want to know something, just ask me Insha Allah

TbarkAllah 3lik

As-salamualykum wa rahmatullah

Jazakallah kahir sidi Muhammed for taking the time to respond to my query. I must offer my apologies for the late response as i have been caught up with exams. Regarding the situation in Morocco, i am unsure how to approach studying Quran there. I have contacted SACAL and ALIF (the arabic language schools) concerning Quran teachers but i have been told that language may be a barrier, which i totally agree on. I am now contemplating taking a summer arabic course with either of the institutions to improve my arabic, and hopefully while i am there find out more about Institutions or teachers of the Quran, while also attending the gatherings of Dhikr. If it may be possible to find out a little more information on the Dar Al Quran such as the costs for studying and accomodation i would really appreciate it. What advice would suggest in this matter?

May Allah reward you abundantly for your efforts in assisting me and please forgive me causing any disruption to your daily works.

Fi Amanillah,

Nabeel.

Wa Alaikoum Assalaam Wa Rahmatullah,

JazzakAllahu Khayran, Ameen.

You do not disturb me, Nabeel. You can always ask me about Dar al Quran or anything else Insha Allah.

Well, Insha Allah i will collect some information about Dar al Quran tonight after work. About the cost and everything.

About the place to stay. They do not offer a house or something. Well, i live in the house of my work, because i am not Moroccan and i do not have family here. Alhamdulillah. Maybe, but i can not promise you anything, you can stay there with me.
But like i said, it is not my house, so i have to ask this.

So your plan Insha Allah is to learn Arabic here first and then after start with some Quran courses?
And how long do you want to stay here then?

Assalamu Alaikoum Wr Wb

As-Salamalykum wa Rahmatullah,

Jazakallah khair brother Muhammed for taking time out to answer my queries. Inshallah i hope to stay for around 3 Months as i have to return to complete my degree inshallah in October. My intention was to learn the Memorisation and Tajweed of the Quran straight away, as i was of the impression that conversations with a teacher would be on a basic level. As i have not had much success in finding a place that teaches the Quran in Morocco so far, this has led me to consider studying arabic. Inshallah if the opportunity exists, Memorising the Quran would be the first choice. I guess i want to study in Morocco more than anywhere else due to the rich history of the Quran recitation there, the many saints and Freinds of God that are found there and because the people are so loving and inviting. Added to that Fez is undoubtably among the greatest Islamic cities in the World and i would love the opportunity to be in that blessed environment.

I hope this inshallah has given you a better understanding of my situation. I cannot express enough how much i appreciate your help and assistance. At one point i thought studying Quran in Morocco may be very difficult, But by Allah's grace you came along to offer advice. Jazakallah Khair!

May Allah be with you.

Assalamu Alaikoum Wr Wb,

Sorry Brother Nabeel, i haven't spoken yet with the person who knows a lot about Dar al Quran. Insha Allah i try to speak with some persons here as soon as possible. When do you plan to go actually?

For the Arabic, you have a lot of language centers here in Fes. But also some people who can be private teacher fisabilillah.

Insha Allah i will collect some information about Dar al Quran.

May Al Qayyum Give you the Best, Ameen.

Assalamu Alaikoum Wr Wb Nabeel,

Alhamdulillah. How are you? I am sorry for the late reply, but i have some news for you Insha Allah.

Today i have spoken with a Muslima Sister on my work and her father teaches in Dar al Quran.
She said that Dar al Quran is free and daily teaching. It is for womem, men, children. And they teach Tajweed and everything, but also Arabic. I know there is one teacher in Dar al Quran who speaks English, so that would be Insha Allah good for you. Alhamdulillah this is what she told me, but only the month August they are closed. Not because of Ramadan, but because in August they take their holiday Insha Allah.

If you want to know more; ask me Insha Allah.

Salam,

I'd like to go that Dar al-Qur'an and study Arabic with a private teacher in December and January insha'Allah. I'm just inquiring on some possibilities.

Who can help me find a place to stay for those two months? I'd reallt appreciate. I don't have a lot of money so if it could be fi sabilillah than that would be great. I have enough to buy a flight tickets and expenses to stay for two months with regards to food etc.

Nabeel or Mohammed can you help me out?

I'm Harun, convert from the Netherlands, 34 almost and eager to study.

Hope to hear from you insha'Allah.

Greetings!
Haruni

As-salamualykum wa rahmatullah.

I pray that this reaches you in the best states of health and Iman inshallah.
Unfortunatly brother Harun i was not able to persue my ambition of learning the Quran in Morocco over my summer break. As a result i am not be able to advise u on the living costs and other expenditure that may exist. Inshallah i pray that Allah opens the door for you and allows you to fulfil your humble intentions. If you do end up going, please post back to share your experiance.

Fi Amanillah.
